The September Fiber in PortFiber’s Maine Fiber Club is Coopworth.

I hand combed this fiber after a brief tutorial from Casey.  (Thank you!)  I found that hand combing fibers really hurts my hands.  Not sure if I’m doing something wrong, but my joints got very achey after making just a few balls.

This is how the locks looked out of the bag, pre-washed.

I combed them out and used a sewing bobbin as a diz.

Ready for spinning:

It took me most of the month to comb it, then it spun up really quickly.  I liked the slightly sticky feel of the remaining lanolin in the wool.

Coopworth is a longwool, with a high micron count, so it spins really easily, but the finished product is rather scratchy.

I decided with the second half of it to blend it with some angora from my bunny during the combing to soften it up a bit.  I liked that effect.

Not sure what I’d do with this, but it was fun to spin.
